Tip #3 - Speak up

Never be afraid to ask questions and be firm if you want a particular design. Changes should be made during the design stage, not during construction.

Designers can get carried away, and if there is anything in the design that you can’t visualise or do not like, then speaking up now is important. Don’t be intimidated by any professional, remember it’s your design, you’re paying for their time to design it, you’re paying for it to be built and you have to live with the finished product, not them.

Any changes during construction will cost you extra and even small design changes whilst building can be very expensive. Never assume that it’ll just work out whist building. Speak up, ask questions, make sure you can visualize every aspect of your plan/design and make all changes during the design phase.
